THE GRACE THAT TEACHES US TO LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY

MGM DAILY DEVOTIONAL

SCRIPTURE:
TITUS 2:11–12 (KJV)
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Titus 2:11–12 (KJV)

God’s grace is one of the greatest gifts humanity has received through Jesus Christ. We were separated from God by sin, and we could not restore ourselves through our own efforts. In His love, God sent His Son to die on the Cross for our sins and rise again. Through Christ, the way to forgiveness and reconciliation with God has been opened. We receive this gift through repentance and faith, not because we have earned it, but because of what Jesus has accomplished for us.

However, the grace of God does more than offer forgiveness. Titus 2:11–12 teaches that grace also trains us to reject ungodliness and live righteous lives. We must not misunderstand God’s mercy as permission to continue in sin. The same grace that brings salvation calls us to turn away from the things that displease God and to walk in a manner that honours Him.

At the Cross, Jesus demonstrated the seriousness of sin and the greatness of God’s love. He willingly gave His life to redeem us. We cannot add to His finished sacrifice, but we must respond to it with sincere repentance and obedience. When we understand the price Christ paid for our redemption, we should no longer treat sin casually or make excuses for behaviour that contradicts His Word.

Living righteously does not mean that we save ourselves through good conduct. Our salvation rests in Christ, but the life we live should reflect the grace we have received. We must learn to control our words, deal honestly with others, forgive those who offend us, resist temptation, and remain faithful to God’s instructions. When we fall short, we should acknowledge our wrongdoing, seek God’s forgiveness, and return to the path of obedience rather than defend our mistakes.

Beloved, examine your life today. Is there a habit you continue to justify even though you know it displeases God? Is there an attitude, relationship, or decision that needs to change? Do not resist the correction of God’s Word. Repent sincerely and depend on His grace to help you live differently. Christianity is not simply about declaring that Jesus is Lord; it is about surrendering our lives to Him and allowing His truth to guide our daily conduct.

Remember that Jesus Christ has accomplished the work of redemption through His death and resurrection. We do not obey God to purchase His grace; we obey because we have received His grace. Let the sacrifice of Christ move you away from sin and toward a life of holiness, humility, love, and faithful obedience.
