MGM DAILY DEVOTIONAL
SCRIPTURE:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. James 1:14 (KJV)
Temptation is something that we all face in our daily lives. It comes in different forms and at different times, but it always seeks to draw us away from God’s plan for our lives. The Bible tells us in James 1:14 that every man is tempted when he is drawn away by his Own desires and enticed. This means that the devil uses our own desires to lure us into sin. However, as Christians, we have been given the power to overcome temptation.
The key to overcoming temptation is to renew our minds with the word of God. We must learn to see things from His perspective and not our own. The Bible says that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). When we begin to think like God thinks, we will act like God acts.
We also need to cultivate a strong prayer life. Prayer is a powerful tool that allows us to connect with God and receive His strength and guidance. When we feel weak and overwhelmed by temptation, we can turn to God and ask Him to help us through it. He promises to never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).
In order to overcome temptation, we must also flee from it. We cannot afford to entertain thoughts or actions that lead us down the wrong path. We must learn to say no to the things that do not glorify God and yes to the things that do. The Bible tells us to resist the devil, and he will flee from us (James 4:7).
